Studying my BaCS in Cyber Security and Software Engineering Majors at Swinburne University, Hawthorn Campus
Mitchell Reynolds - Circa 2011
For over a decade I have been in the IT industry whether through programming, scripting, or tech support. I started off in high school learning PHP and Microsoft batch scripting and learning ethical coding. Mentored by my teachers to investigate PHP and web development further I started in the awesome community of developers, scripters, guru’s, and technicians to show me the ropes and right the way of going about things.
I followed my technical curiosity into the education space where I started to do technical support for schools. Meanwhile I started my certificate IV and then by dual diploma of IT networking and systems administration. This combination allowed me to get a foothold into the technical industry and support space. Slightly after my brief start into the education space I managed to gain three jobs and I was working almost 80-hour weeks while trying to study. This gave me a feeling of what the words “under pressure” and “stress” meant.
From where I’ve started to where I am now my love for technology and the enjoyment of finding solutions to issues within the technical support or development spaces I feel that I have loads to learn in the IT industry. I am currently studying my Bachelor of Computing Science (BA-CS) majoring in cybersecurity and co-majoring in software engineering at Swinburne University of Technology. I am also currently working part time as a Roaming Specialist Technician for the North Eastern Metropolitan region for the Department of Education Victoria.
Other than that, on the other side of my professional or educational life I am a Queer (or LGBTIQ+) rights promoter, I enjoy exercising (as much as I can, when I can), casual gamer (Minecraft, shapes.io, borderlands 2/3/ps, Garry’s Mod etc), and love to watch the fantastic content creators on YouTube and Twitch. Throw in a good movie or two and maybe a season of The Witcher and that would be me in a very brief nutshell. Feel free to get in contact with me down below.
